   Snail Saves The Game

It's not often that fans get involved,  let alone save the game.  Today was a day of events
and thrills, thank to one of the fans.

Today in hockey, Ottawa scored against the
Buffalo team short handed, and with a snail.
That's right folks, I did type snail.  In fact, the
snail was more than willing to cover for the
missing pucks at the game today when referee,
Slim Jam, reported that all the pucks had been stolen sometime after teams arrived.  With only minutes
before the game was to start, the snail whom was an actual spectator, overheard the conversation and
offered to fill in.  At first the coaches were uncertain about how it would read out in the rules but the
referee had advised them, there was nothing in the books regarding the use of a snail as the puck.

In the first period, Buffalo dominated the game, leading 4:1.  Ottawa came back in the second period
but it wasn't enough to gain much ground back.  By the third period, Buffalo became over confident and
didn't act upon any loose ends the Ottawa team left open to them.  In the final period, Ottawa's big boys
man handled the snail, passing him back and forth between players, allowing them to score repeated times
in the last five minutes of the game.  Final score was 7:6 favoring Ottawa.
